Their previous four albums did not chart outside Australia. Its title track “Lost In Love” hit 13 in Australia and 3 in New Zealand in 1980, but the band was still broke. However, when Arista Records owner Clive Davis opted to release the song in North America , it became a top five hit in both the US and Canada and was the spark that ignited international success for the group. On the strength of its title track, “All Out of Love” and “Every Woman in the World”, the album became a massive success internationally. It peaked at 22 in the US and sold over 3 million copies, thereby reaching multi-platinum status.
